An improvement for a refrigeration system that includes a refrigerant circuit and a compressor with condenser assembly (40). The improvement is a precooling device (10) connected to the output of the condenser (40) and includes an inlet (12) and two outlets (14 and 16). The inlet (12) is connected to a serpentine (30) at one end and the other end is connected to the outlet (14). The other outlet (16) is connected to the device housing above the bottom concavity where the liquid refrigerant (R) is collected. The serpentine (36) comes in at least partial contact with the refrigerant (R) and in that manner pre-cooling the refrigerant (R) going through the serpentine (36).
