The press tool (10), to press pipes with fittings, has curved press pads (12-12) which are linked together in a press pad chain (16). The first press pad (12) is connected to a drive (18) and the final press pad can be linked to the drive. The drive has two swing levers (20) with a trailing drive section (26) and a leading holding section (28). The holding section of the second drive lever has a hook (34) to engage the final press pad.
