LIFTING METHOD OF WHEELCHAIR CARRIER FOR ESCALATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ride a wheelchair carrier on stairs of an escalator for lifting it up or lowering without stopping the escalator. SOLUTION: A carrier 1 is provided with a wheelchair deck 4 pivoted on its frame 2, and front and rear wheel brakes 1Aa and 1Ba for applying braking force to its front and rear wheels 1A and 1B. The front wheel brakes 1Aa are applied after the front wheels 1A are pushed onto the tread of a stair 8, and then the rear wheel brakes 1Ba are applied after the rear wheels 1B are pushed onto the tread of another stair 8. The front wheel brakes 1Aa are released before the front wheels 1A reach the way out, and then the rear wheel brakes 1Ba are released before the rear wheels 1B reach the way out.
