Display element for an information display apparatus, said apparatus comprising display elements arranged in the form of a group or matrix in which each display element has at least two states, at least one of which is non-transparent and at least one other state is a reflecting or at least partially transparent state, and the apparatus comprises means for changing the state of the display element. The display element comprises a band (1) provided with at least one non-transparent area (2) and at least one other area (3) that is at least partially transparent, and means (4) for moving the band between at least one first position, where the non-transparent area (2) faces towards the viewing direction (5), and at least one second position, where the partially transparent area (3) is visible.
