The transmission has a differential (Dif) with two degrees of freedom and three external connections, two via a variable drive (V) with pairs of drive and driven plates connected via belts or chains and connected to an intermediate transmission (Zg) and one transferring power to the axle drive. The engine drive shaft is connected to the variable and intermediate transmission via a planetary inverter transmission. The drive plates are adjusted to vary the transmission ratio by a hydraulic controller with a collar adjustable by the accelerator pedal.
