Sulfonamide-substituted chromane derivatives (I) are new. Sulfonamide-substituted chromane derivatives of formula (I), and salts of (I), are new: R<1>, R<2> = H, CF3, C2F5, C3F7, 1-6C alkyl, or optionally substituted phenyl; or R<1> +R<2> = a 2-10C alkylene chain; R<3> = R<10>-VCnH2n-NR<11> or R<10>-CnH2n; V = CnH2n in which one CH2 group may be replaced by O, CO, S, SO, SO2 or N(R<12>a); R<10> = H, Me, Cy, CF3, C2F5 or C3F7; R<11> = H or; or R1<0> + R<11> = a bond, provided that n is not less than 3; n = 0-10; R<4> = R<13>-CrH2r-Z-CqH2q; q, r = 0-8; Z = eg. CO-NH<14> or OCO-NR<14>; R<14> = eg.
