PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator to be well suitable for a non-azide gas generating agent simultaneously with excellence in heat resistance and pressure resistance, reduction in size and weight, and further ensurance of safety and a low cost. SOLUTION: In this gas generator for an air bag, an upper cover 1 formed such that a top board 1a and a side cylinder part 1b are molded by press- processing heat resisting metallic sheet and a lower cover 2 formed such that bottom board 2a and a side cylinder part 2b are molded by press-processing of a heat resisting metallic sheet are fixed by bringing the side cylinders 1b and 2b into frictional pressure contact with each other to form a housing 3. Further, at the lower cover 2 or the upper cover 1, a holder member 4 having a flange part 4d rising to surround burr forming parts 1d and 2d by through friction pressure contact from the external part of the housing 3 and extend horizontally externally is fixed. Further, in the housing 3, an igniter 7, a gas generating agent 11, and a filter member 8 are arranged, in the order, from the central part thereof. |
