<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To charge a gob into a proper position by dropping a gob, charging the gob into a metallic mold, detecting a molding unbalance in mutually opposite plural positions in a peripheral edge of a glass article press molded with a force and regulating the position of the metallic mold. SOLUTION: A gob is a molten glass lump in a prescribed amount prepared by cutting a molten glass pushed out of a gob feeder and is dropped by positioning the metallic mold so as to be just under the gob feeder and fed to the metallic mold. The molding unbalance in a peripheral edge of the glass article during the molding is detected at mutually opposite plural positions such as opposite places in the X- and Y-directions passing through the center when the peripheral part is a rectangular, a circular or an elliptical shape and compared. When the gob is unevenly charged into the metallic mold, a difference in arrival time at a ring assembled in the top force to cause a temperature difference, which is detected by thermocouples. The molding device body on an X-Y table driving system is moved on the obtained signal to provide the optimal gob feeding position.</p> |
