PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater structure whose earthquake resistance is heightened, by eliminating external force to be applied to a submerged structure in the case an earthquake occurs. SOLUTION: This underwater structure 1 is so constituted that their own mass Ma∼Mn of a plurality of elements 3a∼3n are approximately equivalent to massρ×Va∼ρ×Vn of water having the same capacity as that of volume Va∼Vn to be formed of the elements 3a∼3n, in the case a plurality of elements 3a-3n cut in round slices so as to divide the underground structure 1 in the vertical direction are assumed. By the constitution, even in the case an earthquake occurs, apparent external force no longer acts, relative displacement in the vertical direction occurring in the underwater structure 1 and occurrence of stress are also eliminated, and even in the case an earthquake occurs, the underwater structure 1 capable of greatly reducing the possibility of cracks or damages.
