PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having a long life, whose deterioration after the lapse of time is suppressed to the utmost, and whose initial performance can be maintained for a long period. SOLUTION: This EL element has an organic EL structural body laminated on a substrate, a sealing plate arranged on the organic EL structural body with a prescribed aperture, and an adhesive agent for sealing by which the sealing plate is fixed on the substrate and also the organic EL structural body is sealed tightly. The adhesive agent for sealing is a photo-curing adhesive agent, and the total of linear aliphatic hydrocarbons having low molecular weights which may or may not be substituted, aromatic hydrocarbons which may or may not be substituted, alicyclic hydrocarbons which may or may not be substituted heterocyclic compound which may or may not be substituted and siloxane, selected from the produced gas with a heating conditions of 85 deg.C, 60 min. after the heat curing, is made below 200μg/g in terms of benzene conversion.
