Sliver splicing

The apparatus to join sliver ends, when changing sliver cans, reduces the thickness of the leading end (4a) of the sliver (4) from the full can and the trailing end (5a) of the sliver (5) from the spent can. The thinned ends (4a, 5a) are brought together at least partially, with their gradually thinned sections matching each other. A drafting is applied to the thinned ends (4a, 5a) of the sliver materials, or the thickness of the sliver ends is reduced by pulling out or combing the end sections of the slivers. The length of the thinned sliver ends is 1-3 times the maximum staple fiber length in the slivers. The thinned sliver ends have a wedge angle shape, to fit against each other in a bonding zone (a). The mated sliver ends are bonded together at their bonding zone by a pair of rollers with tongue and groove structure, or by a funnel, to give a spliced sliver.
