<p>A dispersion shift fiber equipped with a structure for effectively suppressing a transmission loss caused by the occurrence of nonlinear optical effect and structural mismatching. A core region in the dispersion shift fiber comprises at least an inner core which is a glass region to which F is added in a predetermined amount and has an average Δn1 and an outer core which is a glass region provided between the inner core and a clad region and to which GeO2 is added in a predetermined amount and has an average relative index difference Δn2((⊃Δn1). Structural mismatching occuring at the boundary of the glass regions is effectively suppressed by controlling the viscosity ratio at a temperature of drawing between the inner core and the outer core to within a predetermined range.</p> |
