PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic money system which enables a customer to exchange foreign currency into electronic money through an easy operation. SOLUTION: For this method, a host computer 2 having a storage device 3 stored with exchange rates and an automatic transaction device 1, which is connected to the host computer and performs processing regarding electronic money for IC cards, are provided. In this case, the automatic transaction device 1 when holding electronic money on an IC card from the account of the customer allows the customer to input an amount of electronic money to be held on the IC card, and when the money in the account of the customer is different from the electronic money to be held on the IC card, the host computer 2 exchanges the money in the inputted held amount according to the exchange rate stored in the storage device 3, so that the exchanged electronic money is held on the IC card. |
