PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the control over properties of an emulsion rolling oil by using the SiO2 content in the emulsion rolling oil in cold rolling of orientated electromagnetic steel sheets as a control index. SOLUTION: The SiO2 content in an emulsion rolling oil is adopted as a control index in order to maintain the emulsion stability of the emulsion rolling oil used in a circulating feed system in cold rolling of silicon-containing steel sheets, especially orientated electromagnetic steel sheets. The SiO2 content is preferably kept at <=120 ppm in the emulsion rolling oil. When one or more of pH value, iron content and ash content are further used in combination as the control index, the deterioration in emulsion stability in the emulsion rolling oil can more surely be predicted and the control over properties of the emulsion rolling oil for maintaining and controlling surface properties of the steel sheets and rolling oil unit requirement can more be ensured. Thereby, a treatment such as filtration can be performed in a proper timing and an abnormal rolling phenomenon such as slip or chattering due to the excess and deficiency in lubrication can further be prevented to improve the rolling oil unit requirement. |
