PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the melt flowability of a vinyl chloride resin compsn. without detriment to its tensile strength or impact resistance by compounding a vinyl chloride resin with an impact modifier and a specified amt. of a specific acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer. SOLUTION: One hundred pts.wt. vinyl chloride resin is compounded with 5-30 pts.wt. impact modifier and 5-20 pts.wt. acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer having an acrylonitrile/styrene ratio of (1/99)-(15/85). The average degree of polymn. of the vinyl chloride resin is pref. 600-1,300, and is suitably 350-800 when used for injection molding. The impact modifier is pref. an ABS resin or an MBS resin, and an acrylic rubber resin is also listed as the modifier. The use of an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer having a low acrylonitrile content improves the flowability of the compsn. without degrading the compatibility with other resins. An acrylonitrile content higher than 15 wt.% is not pref. since the melt flowability is not sufficiently improved. |
