The torque converter has a throttle element (58) in the torus (40) with several throttle projections (64), which project through corresponding apertures (65) in the torus and are inserted into associated flow chambers (68). The element also has a carrier plate (60) moving inside the torus on a slide rail (50) of a slide guide (56). The carrier plate supports the throttle projections via a connecting ring (62).
