PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new bacterial strain producing a cell wall-lytic enzyme, having broad lytic spectrum to lactic acid bacterium and hiochi bacterium and capable of preparing protoplast by single use. SOLUTION: This bacterial strain is Streptomyces fulvissimus FERM P-16347 bacterial strain. The strain has one or more kinds of activities selected fromβ-N-acetyl-D-glucosanidase activity, muramidase activity and endopeptidase activity. The bacterial strain is aerobically cultured in a culture medium for producing enzyme and a cell wall-lytic enzyme is recovered from the cultured product.
