PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for a discharge lamp, provided with a control means for making the light source device unlightable for a specified time, after the discharge lamp has been lighted out. SOLUTION: This light source device for a discharge lamp comprises a high- voltage generating circuit for lighting 5 which lights and drives a discharge lamp 7, a lighting condition detecting circuit which outputs a lighting or lighting- out detecting signal of the discharge lamp 7 and a start of lighting restricting circuit 6 which restricts the lighting drive operation of the discharge lamp by the high-voltage generating circuit for lighting 5 for a specified time, on the basis of the result of the detection of the lighting-out of the discharge lamp 7 by the lighting condition detecting circuit. |
