A process is disclosed for the on-line analysis of a reactive gas mixture in a container, in particular a gas mixture containing ketene, diketene, acetic acid anhydride and/or acetic acid. The process is characterised in that part of the gas mixture is temporarily expanded in a sampling pipe and subjected to a mass spectrometric analysis through a probe integrated into the container and having an opening with a free cross-section smaller than or equal to 1 mm<2>.
