PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the particles dispersed in an electroviscous fluid from attaching to electrodes and eliminate instability between applied voltage and attenuation characteristic by obtaining a voltage of such a magnitude as to be applied to a buffer for obtaining the desired attenuating power characteristics and reversing the polarity of the voltage, each time the voltage demand signal comes down to a threshold level near zero voltage, and not always keeping the same polarity. SOLUTION: A voltage demand signal is sent from a controller 31 to an internal command voltage transforming circuit 34, and then a DC voltage required for obtaining desired attenuating power characteristics is obtained as the output of a rectifying circuit 37. When applying the voltage to a buffer 1, the polarity of the voltage is not always the same but the connection between the rectifier circuit 37 and the buffer 1 is alternately switched by a contact switch 38, and the polarity is reversed each time the connection is switched. As a result, particles dispersed in an electroviscous fluid do not keep being attached to electrodes, and the relationship between the applied voltage and the attnuating power characteristics does not become unstable. |
