A two-piece roof rail assembly for a curtain sided vehicle. The assembly includes a first piece in the form of a roof support and a second piece in the form of a rail system. The roof support includes a beam section and an upwardly open receiving groove provided on the outer side of the beam section. The rail system includes a downwardly open channel defining a rail. The channel includes a downwardly extending lip receivable in the groove.
