The method involves receiving digitally coded blocks which are classified dependent on the transmission quality. Blocks which are classified as useless are interpolated using received blocks which are classified as useful. The transmission quality is estimated continuously in the radio receiver. The volume is decremented with increasing degradation of useful blocks according to the estimated transmission quality. Preferably, the estimation value for the quality is calculated from the relative occurrence of the blocks classified as useless.
