A music transmitting device which receives a request signal including music identification information and compression method identification information from a receiving device and sends out compressed music data generated by compressing music data corresponding to the music identification information by the compression method corresponding to the compression method identification information to the receiving device, and in which the request signal is transmitted through a public circuit; and a music receiving device which receives music data from a music transmitting device by a digital broadcast receiving device and decodes the received music data by the compression decoding method corresponding to the compression method specified by the compression method identification information.
