A method for making arthropodicidal oxadiazines and intermediates which are racemic or enantiomerically enriched at their chiral center, the method for making the oxadiazines comprising reaction of an intermediate selected from <IMAGE> or <IMAGE> wherein: R1 is F, Cl, or C1-C3 fluroalkoxy, R2 is C1-C3 alkyl, and R4 is H or CO2CH2(C6H5). as well as certain selected intermediates including those depicted above, and methods of making them.
