PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a film of which the surface exhibits hydrophilicity from the initial stage and which is resistant to staining due to exposure for a long term by coating a plastic film with a coating compsn. comprising a reaction- curing resin compsn. and a specified amt. of a specific alkyl silicate compounded thereinto, then treating the surface of the resultant coating layer with an acid, and washing the surface with water. SOLUTION: A plastic film (e.g. a polyethylene terephthalate film) is coated with a coating compsn. which is prepd. by compounding a reaction-curing resin compsn. contg. a hydroxylated resin (e.g. a hydroxylated acrylic resin) having a number average mol.wt. of 1,000-100,000 and an OH value of 2-200 mgKOH/g and a polyisocyanate compd. with an alkyl silicate of the formula: Si(OR)4 (wherein R is a 1-3C alkyl) and/or a low condensate thereof in an amt. of 5-50 wt.% of the resin solid. Then, the surface of the resultant coating layer is treated with an acid, pref. an aq. 0.0001-5 N sulfuric or hydrochloric acid soln., and washed with water. |
