Composite tubing suitable for potable water

The composite pipe comprises a metal tube sandwiched between plastics tubes. The metal is a diffusion barrier. Both the inner and outer tubes (1,3) comprise non cross-linked, modified polyethylene (PE). This is preferably a medium density polyethylene (MDPE). The modified PE has octal side chains spiralling along the longitudinal axis of the PE polymer chain. A bonding agent is used on the inner and/or outer metal surfaces. This is ionomeric ethyl vinyl alcohol, or a polyolefin bonding agent. The inner and outer tubes are in the same plastics, either or both being coloured.
