The hot water tank (10), located in the central or upper region of a heating pipe coil (16) linked to a boiler, has a cold water supply (12) in the bottom and a hot water outlet (14) in the top. A solar power heating unit is also present in the system. It includes a solar panel (20) and heat exchanger (22), which is linked by hot and cold water pipes (30,24) to the hot water outlet and cold water supply for the hot water tank respectively. One of the pipes connecting the solar heating unit to the hot water tank contains a three-way distributor valve (28), linked to the other pipe by a bypass pipe (34). The valve is regulated by a thermostat (44) that steadily opens the valve and closes off the bypass pipe when a first chosen temperature for the water in the heat exchanger is exceeded, or vice versa when the temperature of this water falls below a chosen level.
