PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of an elevator having high reliability as well as to realize rational maintenance measures by sufficiently grasping characteristics of a photo emitting element and a photo detecting element of an optical axis-type position detecting switch for detecting the position of a car. SOLUTION: A controller of an elevator is provided with an optical axis-type position detecting switch 5 for detecting the position of the car of the elevator, a self-diagnostic function is provided to the position detecting switch 5, and a timer circuit 7 for generating a diagnostic timing arrival signal for each specified diagnosis period, and a means 1 for sending a diagnosis command to the position detecting switch 5 in response to the diagnosis timing arrival signal from the timer circuit 7 and for self-diagnosing the degree of deterioration of the position detecting switch 5 are provided. |
