<p>A volume of adhesive is accurately dispensed to fill a joint 43 defined as a gap 46 between two panels 42, 44. The back pressure generated at an injection head 22 when injecting adhesive at a progressively increasing rate has been found to be a characteristic of the size of the joint gap. The back pressure can thus be used to calculate the joint gap and hence the volume of adhesive required to fill the joint to a required degree. The measurement of pressure and the calculation of the required volume of adhesive can be repeated at intervals during the dispensing to allow for non-uniform gaps. <IMAGE></p> |
