The sealing (17) is activated by a control unit (9) to move between an inactive position and an active sealing position. A circuit (10) recognises when the petrol inlet (3) is open, and a sensor (11) recognises the introduction of the petrol pump gun. The internal pressure of the container (1) above the liquid level (4) is sensed by a sensor (7) connected to the control unit. A differential pressure created by gas leakage from the container is sensed. When the petrol cap is removed, the control unit moves the sealing to its rest position. During or after refill, a further signal activates the sealing to move to its active position. If the container pressure falls below a certain level, the sealing is moved to its rest position.
