A method for producing carrier bags consists in feeding a reinforcing patch 6 on to a rotating drum 3, feeding a handle cord 12 on to the drum alongside the patch 6 forming the cord to U-shape so that its ends overlap and are secured to adhesively coated areas of the patch and rotating the drum 3 so that the patch and cord are applied to the bag making material 1. The drum, having a number of handle forming positions 4 rotates continuously attaching handles at intervals along the edge of the web of bag making material 1 which is then formed into bags in known manner. |
