The system has an alarm system which reacts differently to different abnormal conditions. In more serious conditions dialysis operation is suspended and user intervention is required to resume operation. Where a less serious abnormal condition occurs, the dialysis operation is allowed to continue for a certain time and, only if the condition persists, is the operation suspended.
