The invention concerns "bi-component" mineral fibres obtained by joint fibre drawing of two different mineral compositions, in particular two glass compositions based on SiO2, alkaline oxides and earth-alkaline oxides: the two mineral compositions have a coefficient of thermal expansion alpha with a difference DELTA alpha of at least 20.10<-7> K<-1>: they have a minimum viscosity fibre drawing temperature Tlog3 between 830 and 1010 DEG C; they have a working temperature level of at least 30 DEG C; they each comprise in all less than 3 wt. % of the following components; TiO2, ZnO, BaO, Li2O, and preferably less than 1 wt.% of each; they have in weight percent, differences in boron oxide B2O3 and in sodium oxide Na2O contents respectively such that: (i) DELTA B2O3 > 2 %, (ii) DELTA Na2O > 2 %.
