953,089. Fuel injection internal-combustion engines. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. Nov. 24, 1960 [Nov. 27, 1959], No. 40479/60. Heading F1B. A fuel injection nozzle 10 which applies the fuel as one or more thin films 14 on the wall of a turbulence chamber is arranged in the part of the chamber cut off by the extension 20 of the wall 19 of the connecting passage 16. An igniter 11 is arranged immediately behind the nozzle 10 and the fuel may be sprayed as a single jet or as two or more jets, Fig. 3, arranged on opposite sides of the igniter 23. The engine may be charged by an exhaust driven turbine and the compression ratio may be low so that compression ignition only occurs at high loads, the igniter 11, which may be a spark plug, incandescent wire, or catalyst, being in operation continuously at low loads to provide ignition. |
