Detection of passage of wheels or axles on single or dual traffic roadway

The traffic counter strip has a thickness (H) of between 4 and 11 mm, and has a cylindrical coaxial piezo-electric detector (1) of circular or oval cross section embedded horizontally. A shock-absorbing strip made of a rubber mousse (3) forms the two edges of the counter strip, along the long edges of the strip that lie perpendicular to the direction of the traffic. A thin metal strip (2) lies below the detector cable, and has a width of between 10 and 30 mm. The metal strip is embedded in a layer of non-rigid plastic, and gives good a rigidity to the counter strip in the transverse direction. The counter strip is attached to the road surface with an adhesive.
