PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sensing system by which the oil level can be read out quantitatively by a method wherein the distance between the lower-end position and the oil level of an oil level gage is computed and displayed on the basis of the oil level, the upper-end position and the lower-end position, of the oil level gage, which are detected by an image and on the basis of the distance between the upper-end position and the lower-end position which are input in advance. SOLUTION: An oil level gage 2 is imaged by a monitoring camera 4 which is disposed so that the whole of the oil level gage 2 can be viewed at a glance. An image processor 5 receives the output of the monitoring camera 4, and the oil level 21, the upper-end position 23 and the lower-end position 22 of the oil level gage 2 are detected respectively. In a computing device 6, the number of pixels between the oil-level position 21 and the lower-end position 22 and the number of pixels between the upper-end position 23 and the lower-end position 23 are input from the image processor 5. The distance between the upper-end position 23 and the lower-end position 22 which are measured in advance is input from an input device 7. The distance between the oil level position 21 and the lower-end position 22 is computed. In a display device 6, the height up to the oil level 21 from the lower-end position 22 is displayed in an absolute value on the cross-sectional reproduction figure of the oil level gage 2. In addition, the lower-limit position and the upper-limit position of the oil level are displayed as line segments. |
