PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of characteristics resulted from water intruded from outside, by putting in a drying agent in a sheathing case. SOLUTION: An electrode group 19 is provided in a sheathing case 7, and a drying agent consisting of synthetic zeolite is filled in the case 7. A cover 10 is welded to the sheathing case 7 and the case 7 is sealed. A positive pole terminal 8 and a negative pole terminal 9 are inserted to the cover 10 leaving the prescribed distance between them. An organic electrolyte is injected into the case 7. When the water in the atmosphere is introduced into the case 7, the greater part of the water is adsorbed by the drying agent, and the gas which is generated by the decomposition of a part of the water is also adsorbed. Besides, the CO2 , which is generated by the reaction between the electrode and the electrolyte when voltage is applied, is also adsorbed by the drying agent. As a result, the deterioration of an electric double layer capacitor by the water, etc., intruded from outside can be prevented. |
