PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved aerodynamic bearing to achieve a matching state at an ultimate precision level. SOLUTION: An air bearing comprises a static shaft 2; and a hollow support member 5 mounted rotatably around the static shaft. The static shaft has a peripheral surface formed in the shape of a continuous shallow sine wave 3 having a peak 4 of at least three waves when it is developed into a substantially plane. One peak forms a groove 7 longitudinally extending in parallel to a shaft axis. It is preferable that the groove is positioned at the bottom of the static shaft 2.
