The invention comprises inorganic-organic mixed salts of the formula M-(Z1-W-Z2-X)n where W represents a hydrocarbon residue of from 1 to 22 carbon atoms, M represents a divalent or trivalent metal ion; X represents an organic ammonium group, n represents a number equal to the valency of the metal M and Z1 and Z2 represent sulphonic acid and carboxylic acid, sulphonic acid and phenolic hydroxy, carboxylic acid and phenolic hydroxy, or carboxylic acid and organic acid groups, and the preparation thereof by reacting a dibasic organic acid, capable of giving a (Z1-W-Z2) radical, or an alkali metal salt thereof, with an organic amine having a single basic nitrogen atom in the molecule, or a salt thereof, or with a polyvalent salt or base, and thereafter reacting the intermediate product so obtained with a base or a salt of the other class mentioned above than that previously used, thereby obtaining a mixed salt, the reagents being reacted in the proportions of one mol. of organic amine compound per mol. of organic dibasic acid and the number of mols. of each of the dibasic organic acid and the organic amine per mol of the polyvalent metal salt or base equalling the valency of the polyvalent metal. The preferred divalent metal ions are mercuric and cupric ions.
|
