摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle running state computing device and method using map data, capable of executing the computation of an appropriate running state by correcting data about longitudinal and cross gradients, even if the direction of the center of a road does not coincide with the advancing direction of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The longitudinal and cross gradients of a road are input to an arithmetic computing unit 18 from a map database 14 in accordance with the current position acquired by a current position acquisition device 12, and data about the configuration of a curved road present on the expected route of a vehicle are acquired. The configuration data are corrected by a map database correcting device 24 according to the deviation of the advancing direction of the vehicle from the direction of the centerline of the road. From the configuration data thus corrected, the desired vehicle speed at which to pass through the curve is computed by the arithmetic computing unit 18, and deceleration control using a decelerator 20 or a warning issued by an alarm device 22 to the driver to regulate speed is performed while taking into account the relationship between the current position and the position of the curve and the advancing direction of the vehicle.
