Supplementary air inlet openings for gas turbine in supersonic aeroplane

The air inlet comprises an aperture in the engine's lateral housing (13) which is closed by sliding (15) and pivoting (14) flaps. The sliding flap is made with the same thickness as the engine housing, apart from sections where it meets the housing and the pivoted flap. Each pivoting flap has a projection on its inner front edge and the sliding flap has a recess to receive it, and there is an elastic seal between the two.
