Production of agglomerates from mixed, contaminated plastic wastes

The original method makes agglomerates from plastic wastes in diverse forms and dimensions, possibly contaminated and mixed with other materials. The material is first charged to a dosing container to required volume. It passes to the agglomerator with vertical-axis rotary cutter. Here it is comminuted and agglomerated, small doses of water being sprayed in. Shock cooling water is then sprayed to harden the agglomerate, followed by drying and post-comminution. Following further evaporation, the mixture is extracted. Control input variables are measured during charging, agglomeration, shock cooling, evaporation and extraction; i.e. manufacture. Product parameters are then measured and compared with desired values. Variation of processing parameters is measured during processing and compared with desired values. All data is weighed and considered in terms of required product properties, adjusting the magnitude and direction of changes to the process settings, using a multivariate controller (7).
