The speech recognition method uses at least two independent speech-controlled memories for use with a speech recognition device, each operating as an electronic telephone book with a number of entries corresponding to the speech recognition capacity of the speech recognition device. The authorisation of the user for access to each telephone book may be verified by an individual user reference pattern, with the telephone book for the user activated when the reference pattern is checked.
