A device (10) for simultaneous collection of cells from the endocervical canal a nd the cervical face of the uterus and methods of use. The device (10) has an elongated handle (12) having one cell-col lecting member (30) projecting from the handle (12) at an axis perpendicular to the axis of the handle (12) for contacting with the cer vical face of the uterus, and one cell-collecting member (20) projecting from the handle (12) along the same axis as the handle (1 2) for contact with the endocervical canal of the uterus. Along each member (20, 30) project sets of bristles (26, 32) which, beca use they are perpendicularly positioned on each member (20, 30), provide mild abrasive action to the endocervical canal and the cervical face when the device (10) is inserted into the uterus and rotated, so that cells from both regions are collected onto the b ristles (26, 32).
