GASEOUS CARBON DIOXIDE ABSORBENT AND METHOD FOR TRANSPORTING LIVING FISH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gaseous CO2 absorbent safely and easily preventing the reduction of the vital power of living fishes and the death of them during transportation at a low cost, by wrapping an alkaline earth metallic hydroxide with a gas-permeable plastic material having a specified gas permeability and impermeable to water under atmospheric pressure. SOLUTION: Powder or granules of calcium hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide are wrapped with a gas permeable plastic material having 0.1-3,000 sec/100 ml air, preferably about 1-1,000 sec/100 ml air Garley type gas permeability (JIS P8117) and impermeable to water under atmospheric pressure in the form of a microporous film or a nonwoven fabric. The microporous film is a polyolefin film having micropores of about 0.01-50μm size. The nonwoven fabric is obtd. by intertwisting and dispersing long polyolefin fibers and joining them by hot pressing.
