摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device capable of displaying a distinct picture without making a gap between picture elements conspicuous even when luminance distribution is provided in each picture element by diffusing each picture element displayed by a display device. SOLUTION: Each picture element displayed by the display device 4 is diffused by a diffuser 5. The diffuser 5 is a transmission type diffraction grating which disperses light to two different directions. It diffuses the incident light so that the luminance distribution may be provided with plural peaks in every picture element. This diffuser 5 performs nine-point diffusion, and diffuses the incident light crosswise so that the 0th order light, the +1st order light and the -1st order light may be generated in parallel with the 1st oblique principal axis direction, and the 0th order light, the +1st order light and the -1st order light may be generated in parallel with the 2nd oblique principal axis direction. Then, the diffuser 5 diffuses the light from each picture element aperture so that the gap between the adjacent same color picture elements may be filled with the±1st order light.</p>
