2-Substituted carbamoylimidazolecarboxylic acid derivatives represented by general formula (I) and pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof, wherein one of A and B is a group represented by general formula (a), wherein R<1> to R<3> each is any of various substituents containing hydrogen, and the other is a carboxylic ester group; R<4> is a lower alkyl substituted by hydroxy, amino, etc.; and R<5> is hydrogen or a lower alkyl; provided that R<4> and R<5> may be bonded to each other to form an optionally substituted alicyclic amino. These compounds have the effect of inhibiting the overmultiplication of intimal cells and are useful as a vascular-wall thickening inhibitor.
