Manufacture of glass fibre reinforced hollow pressure injection mouldings

New injection moulding method makes hollow objects from plastic mixed with glass fibres. The fluid mixture is injected through an opening in the mould cavity. Once the layer in contact with the wall has begun to set, a pressurised gas is introduced, to eject the still-fluid remainder of the mixture, in the same direction of flow, out of the cavity and back into the injection unit. Also claimed is the necessary equipment, summarised by: the gate channel (2) at one end (3) of the mould cavity (4) with a further channel at another end of the cavity, connected to the injection unit (1). Blocking sections (8, 12), and a compressed gas supply channel (15) are included.
