PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (meth)acrylic acid ester by reacting (meth)acrylic acid with a lower alcohol having a carbon number of 1 to 3 in the presence of an ion-exchanging resin as the catalyst, which can enhance one-pass esterification yield and minimize, as far as possible, the formation of by-products which may cause problems in the refining system. SOLUTION: This method is to produce a (meth)acrylic acid ester by reacting (meth)acrylic acid with a lower alcohol having a carbon number of 1 to 3 in the presence of a strongly acidic ion-exchanging resin as the catalyst, which can enhance one-pass esterification yield by keeping the alcohol/(meth)acrylic acid molar ratio below 1 and also keeping the reaction system at a reduced pressure, and minimize formation of by-products which may cause problems in the refining system. |
