The light beam is focused in the risk area and release of the work stroke is prevented if the presence of an unfamiliar object is registered within the risk area. The risk area is also limited by a work piece (5) which is to be riveted or an extending guide pin (2), by means of which the rivet (4) front end (11) is guided. The monitoring occurs at a distance from the risk area. - An optical sensor (14) is directed towards the risk area, which before a work stroke is located in front of the riveting mandrel or the front end (11) of a drivable rivet (4). It emits a light beam which is focused in the risk area in order to prevent release of a work stroke on registering the presence of an unfamiliar object in the risk area. |
